SCENE was created in 1988. It is a consulting agency specialized in the programming, the construction, or the renovation of all types of cultural facilities : theaters, opera-houses, auditoriums, concert-halls, congress centers, high audiences capacity spaces (Zenith style), museums, exhibitions halls, etc.
SCENE has a staff of architects, engineers, scenographers, artists and graphists as well as an administrative workforce. It ‘s this well balanced team of professional individuals that gives its creative drive. It provides, expert technical know-how for every stage of a project. We treat simultaneously around twenty differents projects.
Each one is the subjet of complete studies, which are: assistance to programmation, conception in collaboration with the architect, design, décoration, stage machinery, light machinery, sound equipment, video systems, simultaneous translation, tiers and rows of sets, peripherical technical premises, specific furnitures, operating assistance, etc.
SCENE has completed over 250 scenographic projects all over the world. Our activities are developped all over France and have expanded to the international market.
The question is often asked in knowing why the scenographer is called to strengthen the activities linked to space ?
Is it an effect of our « entertainment world » who cannot think anything, cannot show anything without stage managing himself ?
Is it the ephemeral notion that attracts some of us towards a territory where every is possible as it doesn’t last for ever ! (shall we remind that the senographer used to be part of the class of “ the architects of small pleasures ‘s menu” in the seventeen century ?) but that’s not what makes scenography different from architecture.
While architecture consist on building to shelter life, scenography builds around life: it’s a story, a person, a music that inspire the spaces of theirs representations.
This concerns scenographers of set pieces, movie sets, opera sets, those working in museography but also those who imagine and put in operation entertainment halls and stages welcoming shows.
